Gratitude Day 13- My Birthday

My husband came home yesterday and while I asked him as we hugged why he was home later than normal he said,  "I had to get everything ready for my sub, sub proof my classroom."   I said, "What do you need a sub for?"   He pulls away and says, "dang-it!"  He took off for my BIRTHDAY!   He got a sub for my birthday!  I thought I would have no time with him this year.  He works by day, school by night.  BUT, did things change.  My Dad and She She are here so they had already volunteered to watch the kids so I could go to class with him (for the first time ever).  Then he got a sub so now I am being spoiled to the MAX! I am so grateful for this husband of mine who just a short time ago (2006/2007) thought that dates when you were married weren't that important and that being "romantic" was kinda silly.  Now he works so hard at it (because he knows I love it) all and I love every second of it.  I am grateful for m...

Gratitude Day 12- Veterans

I feel blessed to be surrounded by so many friends and family who are Veterans. I am grateful for the sacrifices of each and every one of them and their families. What a great country I am blessed to live in, I am truly grateful.

Gratitude Day 11

I am grateful for my own healthy body.  My body that I all too often take for granted.  I am grateful that even though I packed on 20lbs that I lost last year I am down 14lbs (in 5 weeks with Feel Great in Eight) with a goal of at least 15 more lbs to lose.  I'm getting there, slowly but surely.  I am healthy, happy and can work hard and accomplish my goals.  It's a good day! Oh and I'm SO grateful for kisses and hugs from my children.  Thank you, Malachi, for always telling me how beautiful I am, I love your compliments.

Gratitude Day 9- CHESS

I know very little about Chess. My husband knows A WHOLE LOT about Chess, for that I am truly grateful. I am grateful he is teaching our children.  I think it will help their minds grow and their way of thinking expand.  Today Jake took the girls with him to a Jr. High Chess tournament he is taking his students to.   I am THRILLED.  Yesterday before school started the kids played in his classroom and Mali Su WOWED me with her knowledge of Chess.  She knows the pieces names, how they move, and may have had a little sad/pitiful cry when we had to leave before she could get her queen back by getting her pawn across the board to Malachi's side.  She was pretty upset over it.   I LOVE CHESS!   I am so grateful for my husband teaching it to our children.  Always think 3 moves ahead!

Kindergartner of the Quarter/Principal's Award

I got a note in Aimi Lark's agenda that the Kindergarten awards were on Friday.  I asked her teacher if she was receiving an award so I knew if I should make the effort to attend.  We share a vehicle so I have to plan in advance for these type of things.  Her teacher said she was getting an award so I was excited to go. When they called up each teacher to give awards to her class they just had the kids stand up at their seats.  I thought it was a tiny bit lame but was glad to be there and knew Aimi Lark was excited to see us.  Then I noticed the first few teachers were seeming to give every student in their class an award.  I once again thought, "lame."  That is probably tacky of me, but I'm just not of the mindset that everyone should get a "participant" trophy.  So they go on with the awards and I am enjoying myself, my kids are behaving, and all is well.  Aimi Lark's teacher calls out awards for her students and she only c...

Gratitude Day 8- Pa Pa Tim arrives!

My Dad showed up yesterday to spend the night with us on his way to Key West for a weekend wedding.  He will be back next week for a few more days.  The kids were THRILLED to see Pa Pa Tim and She She.  Pa Pa came with gifts, and good ones!  Fancy nail and lip stuff for the girls and the NEWEST Tinkerbell movie!  Malachi saw the bag and yelled, "THAT'S MY FAVORITE MOVIE!"  He could not believe he got his very own LEAPSTER!  Solomon was just happy as a clam doing nothing but taking in what everyone else was up to.  See, happy with a gift bag on his head.  Solomon got some cool NERF stuff, got to keep him from eating it though, so far so good.  I love family visitors!  I am always so grateful to see family and enjoy visits from them so much. I am grateful to live in Florida where visitors are common. I am grateful to live in a home that has enough room for visitors to stay. I am grate...

Grateful for My Aimi Lark & Our Government

I got her school picture printed on a piece of paper yesterday saying, "SECOND CHANCE" to buy.  I went on their website excited to buy (even though it's not some amazing picture, but because it's a SCHOOL PICTURE).  I found that I have to pay $8 for shipping because (due to no fault of my own, thank you teacher for not turning in her money) I didn't order the first time.  So, I will just keep this (scanned) paper copy as her kindergarten school picture.  Sounds good to me.  Aimi Lark is such a good girl at school.  She comes home with a "smiley face" each day in her agenda and always does her homework.  She is doing great!  I just wish she didn't have 3 teachers in the first two months of school. I love how excited she is each morning for school. I love how excited she gets to do her homework. I love how she wants to be a helper at home. I love how much she LOVES to go on a date with me or Jake. She loves to ask for a "family outing....
