Malachi is 22 months and 5 days old

He now comes to me sometimes and says, "Where?" while holding his hands in front of him.  He has the most sincerely questioning look on his face.  Half the time I don't know what he's looking for. He still thinks he's a puppy and acts this way often.  He does this when you call for him, crawls on all fours on the floor like a dog.  Cute, but hard when you're in a hurry or want to change his diaper.  He still loves books.  I need to expand our library so he can read continually. He likes to sit at the computer and watch the screen saver slide show of the all the pictures and say who is in each picture as it goes by. He will spit at you when he's being silly or protesting you telling him not to do something, not a real spitting but a tongue sticking out and blowing it to make that pooting sound and spit comes out. His pretend finger guns, aim and cocks thumb and makes spitting shooting noises with his mouth.  He's done this for awhile but his...

Zelda

OK so we got a dog.  (I think I've avoided blogging about her because I wasn't sure just how permanent this situation was and in my head blogging it made it "official") Well actually to be more exact, a dog found us.  She was a stray in our neighborhood which is odd in and of itself because here in "the city" strays seem to be non-existent and our neighbors are the first to call animal control.  Like the time there was that cat at our back door.  It ended up scratching Aimi Lark, our neighbor told animal control about it who sent MANY officers over to our house to INVESTIGATE the situation.  Seriously?  This is a far cry from how I grew up, strays always here there and everywhere.  They ended up capturing the cat and quarantining it and letting us know via a letter that Aimi Lark would not have to be treated for rabies like they had originally told us she would have to if they cat was never apprehended.  OK so back to Zelda, that's her name,...
I love to feed my babies.  Let me clarify, I love to feed my three little children who aren't quite babies anymore when I realize how soon Solomon will be here.  What started out as a way to avoid messing up a clean table, floors, and clothes has now become a time I love.  I fix a LARGE helping of whatever food I'm eating and then sit down in the living room and let my children all stand in front of me, mouths open like little birds.  They so cutely wait their turn and they are so happy and so am I.  We all four just eat away.  It's perfect.  No mess for me to clean up, less dishes, I get to sit comfortably, and bond with my children.  Ahh, bliss. I think I'm still at least a week out from having Solomon, good thing because my mother-in-law doesn't arrive til Tuesday night.  We have so many fun (hopefully labor inducing) adventures planned for while she's here.  It is funny how I'm not overly anxious.  I think I was more anxious ...

The Games We Play

At the Shillig 1s we play LOTS of games together. Jake read the "Tickle" book to the kids.  Mali Su preferred to taunt Jake and not get too close to actually get tickled by the big furry tickle hand.  Some hide-and-seek.  Could Malachi be any cuter covering his eyes to count!?  Now the hunt is on!  Of course some Settler's of Catan is in order for the Birthday Boy to get to use his gift. Today is full of Doctor appointments and such for the injured, but not until after Jake got some yummy donuts for breakfast again, yum!

Uncle Aaron turns 35 (yesterday)

No Baby Just GA

We're here in GA. I know, I know, I'm 38 weeks pregnant and should not run off to GA but we did.  Jake's brother Aaron and his daughter Hailey were in a motorcycle accident.  They are home now from the hospital.  We are trying to be as helpful as we can.  Since being here we have, had donuts for breakfast,  watched Sleeping Beauty,  heard stories told by Mali Su,  had dinner,  earned M&Ms from Jake by running,  cartwheeling,  wagon riding,  leap frogging, and racing up and down the hill. We have even read lots of books with cousins and  had our fill or vitamin C (oranges) and Pocket Legends (game on phone) outside.

My Brave Swimming Girls!

Get Ready,  Start swimming,  Come up for air,  Turn around and go back. Aimi Lark did AMAZING today, all on her own with some coaching from Daddy.  She was able to swim to the middle of the pool where Jake was! Malachi preferred snacks and sitting on the edge with friends.  Mali Su took a little coaching but she would swim with Daddy and put her face in the water.  I was impressed.  She was so proud of herself!  The girls even JUMPED in and swam to Daddy!  Aimi Lark got a new swimming suit today (from Mia) and in the car said to me, "Mom, I love my new swimming suit that covers my bottles (chest) but doesn't go all the way down."  It's her first two piece and that was how she described it.  Cute girl.  Mali Su was so brave!  She did make sure that Jake was close enough to the stairs for her liking though before she'd jump in.  Thanks Gretchen for having us!
