I haven't addressed the fact that we were ravaged by Hurricane Harvey's flooding.
We were evacuees and now are displaced from our home since it is uninhabitable.
Jake wrote a poem last night that sums it all up so perfectly.
I will try to blog soon. Someone mentioned I should, saying it's therapeutic.
The Behavior Born From the Devastation of Harvey
From the ashes of the Phoenix rises new life
Selfless Service rendered amidst all the strife
The Cajun Navy saved countless lives day after day
The Diesel Brothers came too from far, far, away
How could something dreadful bring out the best in men
The heroes risk it all to save the little children
The lowest breed the looters take our treasures great
The boys in blue and green sent in by the state
Protected by their rifles, but danger now unseen
Generators in the garage make the air unclean
Military Doctors and Medics arrive eager to save
Menacing gators in the water but they press on, they’re brave
They lost everything too but, before the military arrive
Volunteer nurses and paramedics helped thousands to survive
Everyone is helping but who remains unsung
The average joe in his johnboat carrying a gun
His house is underwater and he hasn’t slept
But the Spirit of Christ and Texas in his heart is kept
He saves all of his neighbors and then their neighbors too
He’ll risk his life 100 times before his work is through
Such a nasty smell but before we make demands
In pour the yellow shirts the Mormon Helping Hands
Gross, disgusting work, there is no glory to be had
But these Christians shine so bright hardly anyone is sad
Sometimes pain and suffering bring us closer to our God on High
For we realize each of us is a member of the body of Christ helping those who cry
I dedicate this poem to my wife Caroline and our four children, we may have lost all of our stuff, but Texans and everyone who came to help have given us something much more valuable, they showed us what it means to be a true Christian!
