When blessing a baby, men who hold the Melchizedek Priesthood gather in a circle and hold the baby in their hands. The person who gives the blessing:
-
1. Addresses Heavenly Father.
-
2. States that the blessing is given by the authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood.
-
3. Gives the child a name.
-
4. Gives a priesthood blessing as the Spirit directs.
-
5. Closes in the name of Jesus Christ.
My mom (his Mia) bought him the most wonderful white suit/tux to wear. He looked extremely handsome and it just made me smile every time I looked at him.
I was so grateful to have so many of our close family and friends attend. I am so grateful for all their love and support.
I will say this is the most stress I've had since having him. I first sent Jake on a wild-goose chase with Mali Su to take care of some food preparations, family found a scratch in Malachi's head during Sunday school, I left to feed Malachi and found the mother's room had "standing room only" to nurse, found out there were going to be 2 baby blessings and a missionary homecoming at church so I tried to save enough seats for everyone (and was unsuccessful), but all and all I must say it was a wonderful sight to see my husband bless our dear sweet son.
I am so glad that so many people stayed afterward to eat some yummy food over at our clubhouse. It was so enjoyable to spend time with the Saragers (from UT, ID, TX and AZ),
Jake's Uncle Jonathan and Aunt Beverly Neville, Jake's mission buddies Chris (who left early) and Brent,
my friend Johnny Williamson and his wife Amy, Jake's army buddy Lunnen and his wife, the Heath and El Halta families,
Keeton family,
Shillig 2, 5,
and Shillig Farm family
(sorry if I forgot anyone).
Jake was kind enough to get COSTCO food to serve so I didn't have to cook a thing.
Malachi slept the entire day and wouldn't even wake up to eat the silly boy.
Thank you again everyone for coming and making Malachi's day a successfully blessed event.

ReplyDeleteOh, I wish I could have come. I'm glad it went well and and I'm very happy that you guys had so much support.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great day! Thanks for inviting me to be a part of it!
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to tell you how beautiful Malachi's blessing was. Just great. Probably the best baby blessing I've ever heard. (I never heard any of my own kids' blessings because they CRIED through the whole thing! All of them!)
