Thoughts in my head

Today we bought Jake's plane ticket from TX to UT. We will be driving me and the kids down to TX to spend 5-6 weeks there while Jake is at army training in WA. I cannot believe that I will be in TX in about a week! I am excited to be in TX with family but nervous to take care of the kids without Jake and outside my own home.

We are on our 2nd week of not eating out. Now I know this might not be a big deal to most, but we got in a major rut at the end of my pregnancy and then right after I had Malachi. So about 2 weeks ago Jake and I decided we were not eating out until our drive from TX to UT where we would need to. I am actually proud of myself for staying on top of cooking and planning ahead. Aimi Lark has asked for "fries, dip, & coke" whenever she sees a McDonald's but I told her the other day that they "ran out" and we would eat at home and it made Jake laugh and I told him I felt bad for lying to her.

I finally bought myself some new items of clothing after about 3 years of making do with what I had. I kept telling myself I would buy clothes when I got to this size or that but each time I had another baby before that happened so with our upcoming TX trip I decided to just go for it. The other night I went with Lark, Kaylene, Kailie, Aimi Lark, and Malachi shopping the sales racks.

Jake's last day of finals is tomorrow!! I am so excited for him. He took two classes this semester that required about 20 different books he had to lug around. I am excited for him to sell them back and for me not to have to see those little Spanish poetry/philosophy books again.

  1. Way to go on not eating out. We get in major ruts, too, especially when I'm pregnant. I'm glad to know it's not just me! We will miss you a ton while you're gone...hope you have a fun time. I'm glad you'll still have your blog so you guys won't seem too far away.

  4. A super great thing I learned from my friend Katie, to avoid those ruts - plan your meals, sit down & make a menu for 1-2 weeks at a time & shop for those things you'll need. Put the menu & on the fridge, it's great because you don't have to eat A on Mon., B on Tues., C on Wed. you choose whatever day you want to eat A,B,C. Does that make sense? I've found that it saves $$ also. For our family of 7 eaters, we can easily feast for $500/mon. this includes non-food groceries as well.

20 Weeks

Today we had the opportunity to go in for our 20 week ultrasound. We are excited to announce that baby #3 is a healthy BOY! We are excited but have to admit we are a bit nervous. Change is hard and after two girls this is definitely a change. It will be a fun and wonderful experience. I have already thought about little boy ACUs and PT clothes (little army clothes) and what I will decorate the "boy" room in etc. I have always heard boys are "easier" but more rambunctious so I guess we will just have to see. I was excited that during the ultrasound our little boy was crossing his legs at the ankle like both his sisters do! So funny! We will keep y'all posted on names and other developments.

Halloween 2023

We pulled off our best Halloween!  Possibly ever!  Jake had a vision and it came true beautifully.  He even had the cutest song he sang.  I loved our last Halloween in our Hurst home.

sometimes life may get you down

but then you remember how wonderful you husband is and it makes it all ok. Jake surprised me by ordering these gorgeous handmade pearl earrings from TINY STORM for me for Christmas and they were waiting for us with all our mail when we arrived back home after vacation. He got down on one knee and presented me with these earrings and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, hardworking, and loving husband who is always there to take care of me and love me when I am having a rough time. Thank you Jacob!
