SLC to Orlando & a Choir Mishap

When we got to the airport we had a layover in Houston.  I got a frantic call from the girls that they had to be at a choir performance that night.  I had worked so hard to coordinate everything before I left, but this I thought was at the school.  I just cried right there in the middle of the airport as I frantically called everyone I knew in this new town of ours.  No one was answering and those that answered couldn't help.  I was so upset and felt like a terrible mother.  Then at the final minutes before it would be too late to get them a ride (and I had already told the girls they didn't have a ride) our friend Krista, Kendall's Mom, called back and they picked up the girls.  The girls were so innovative that they dressed themselves in the BOYS' pants and shorts since the uniform was khaki on bottom.  This made me even prouder than I expected (even if it didn't look the best).  They were willing to go and do what it took to get there....

City Creek Marriott Presidential Suite

We were so excited that we were upgraded to the presidential suite at our hotel.  It was so exciting to be able to invite everyone over for breakfast and swimming. This does not happen to us often, but we have been very fortunate, but this time it meant so much to be able to share it with Jake's family!  Right after this we rushed to the airport for our flight and it just felt like the perfect ending to our short time in Utah.

Shillig Family Time at Larkie's

After much back and forth with the family we finally decided to just head to where everyone was already at and hang out.  Larkie's house is THE place to be when it comes to cards, chats, and just laid back hanging out with the Shillig Farm Family. Kurt told us he took some under water pics with his iPhone X and I showed him I could take pics from my phone with my Apple Watch.   Uncle Jake had some deep discussions with these cousins.   9/10 since Isaac had already left on his honeymoon.

Isaac & Hailey's Wedding

Jake and I flew in late the night before and stayed at the Marriott at City Creek with a beautiful view of Temple Square.  They asked us girls to wear white and for the guys to wear gray slacks that matched and ties that Isaac provided.  Jake had to adjust to the "skinny" slacks that Isaac picked, but I think he looked great!  I didn't have shoes (thanks Harvey) so we ran into Nordstrom next door and Jake picked the most adorable pair of heels that I am so glad I got.  They are a treasure for sure.  This wedding marks the first time that all 10 kids and parents have been together since the kids all grew up.  What a grand occasion!                 After the wedding and before the reception we made a run for the BYU bookstore to grab the kids some gear and me some chocolate covered cinnamon bears.  I love being on campus with Jake.  It's where we met, it's...

Girls' Talent Show & Parents Flying to Utah

The girls made the sweetest friend when they moved to Porter named Kendall Robb.  Kendall and her family invited us to see Greatest Showman in theaters and event though we practically broke our necks in the front row it was amazing!  So that made for the perfect idea for the talent show when tryouts rolled around.  The girls choreographed, practiced, and came up with their costumes.  It was perfect!  I was so proud of how creative and hardworking they were to make this all come together.  Jake and I had already made plans to fly to Utah for Isaac's wedding so we missed it, but thanks to technology and Kendall's Mom, Krista, taking Tia Cristy and the kids for ice cream afterwards everything was a-ok! I love any opportunity I have to getaway with this man of mine that I love so much.

New Glasses, Shades, and Bifocals

The kids have found a pediatric ophthalmologist here that we are happy with.  They both were overdue for exams (thanks Hurricane Harvey) and so with that came updated prescriptions.  Solomon moved to bifocals and longer patching of his good eye to strengthen his weak eye.  Mali Su said she wanted sunglasses, but we aren't a fan of transition lenses that change on their own so she got a pair of regular and shades.  She is mature enough and I think will be in contacts soon enough.  I am so grateful for modern medicine that helps my children to see and to not have an eye that turns in/crosses for their whole life.  It is such a blessing!

COMPUTER

Since Harvey I have been without my biggest tool as family secretary, my computer! I bought new cords, and it's a little rusted and corroded, but it turned on! I am so ecstatic!  I am so happy and feel so blessed. My computer feels frozen in time, like a time capsule. When I opened my web browser I could see the last things I was looking at before the flood. It made my heart happy. I cannot wait to take care of all our family business again!
