The kids have been telling me about their ideas for days.
Solomon's were the most extreme and involved shaving his head in different ways that he described to me almost daily since the letter came home last week. One of the ideas was to shave his whole head like Uncle Brody. Then the next one was make the hair stick up all over and then shave the hair in the middle of his head. Then today he asked for reindeer "horns" because his friend, Isaiah, at school has a shaved head and he said he didn't want to hurt his feelings by shaving his head and calling it crazy because Isaiah would think his hair is considered crazy hair. The logic and concern for his friend blew me away.
In Boca, we braided Mali Su's hair around a coat hanger we borrowed from the frat guys that lived across the street. She has always talked about it. Then last year we did "cupcakes" with her hair through cupcake holders. This year she asked to return to the wire ways and they didn't stick out as far as in Boca, but fun none the less.
Malachi asked for his hair to stick up all over and he has been "fluffing" it ever since last night. He was running his fingers through it non-stop to make it stick out. I brought in the gel, hairspray, and blow dryer to give his hair extra umph for the WEREWOLF he wanted to be.
Aimi Lark is always simple in her requests. She was so excited about "pony tails all over my head" and I jazzed it up with a flower.
This morning Malachi made breakfast and Aimi Lark made lunches while I did my best to push through and get their hair done with a fractured right arm that is killing me. I should get the MRI results back soon. I am hoping they say all is well and it just needs rest.
Well, I better get on that homework that is ALWAYS due for me.
