We are well into the summer of 2016 and staying busy each day with no big events, but lots of various activities.
The kids are reading, taking gymnastics, playing barbies/legos, in the backyard, riding bikes, swimming when invited, and we even went to a water park nearby.
Mom & Dad are trying to do all they can to teach the kids life outside of their beloved Kindles (tablets with games/movies on them).
I have one more class left and I finish up a year long school program called, "Pathway." This program was a path for those who wanted to finish or start a degree through BYU (Brigham Young University-Idaho). I attended BYU (Provo) when I was fresh out of High School and I have always wanted to finish my degree and keep my existing credits from expiring. I did the Pathway route to guarantee myself the cheapest tuition possible. I am excited to say that this Thursday will be my last class and I will start BYU-Idaho full-time exclusively online in the Fall. I do not consider myself a quitter, but not having a "real" job or not having been in school in YEARS I have not had a "boss" or many "deadlines" in easily 10 years. I had to learn to commit to something and abide by deadlines and things that weren't the norm for me being "self-employed" as a homemaker. I am currently majoring in Web Design which leads into our newest information.
Daddy has decided to branch out and make his own way with legal work. He has decided to start his own law firm and work for himself. We are excited to see where this journey takes him. For now he is a "sole-proprieter" and I know he will do well. He has a charismatic spirit and from our talks back when we were dating I knew he had an entrepreneurial spirit about him that I lack. I am learning to be supportive of the unknown and have faith that our hard work will be blessed. This new adventure will also help free up family time and time for his new church calling in the bishopric of our ward (church congregation).
We are known for our travels and adventures, but it seems moving into our home that we own has made us more homebodies now than ever before. We are enjoying keeping things clean and organized and slowly making this space our own. I am always on the lookout for garage sales and good deals for furniture as I've discovered my tastes in home decor is not the kind you find on the sales floor of furniture stores. I love all the treasures we have collected from our travels and all the hand-me-down things like Jake's grandma Neville's hope chest or my great-grandma Amy Lee's red Avon china. I love things that tell a story.
We are excited that this week Aunt Kailie graduates from Navy basic training in Great Lakes, IL and then in August Uncle Brody graduates from Air Force basic training in San Antonio, TX. We now have so many siblings on both sides in the military!
It is nap time and I have a math final exam to take before the day is done so I better get to it.
We are doing well in our neck of the woods here in SE TX and we hope y'all are too!
